DOUGLASSVILLE, PA · TRUCK & TRAILER BRAKE REPAIR
BRAKE REPAIR
Grinding, pulling, a soft pedal or an ABS light aren’t things to gamble on with a loaded trailer behind you. Our ASE-certified technicians repair air brakes, drum and disc systems, and trailer brakes to DOT spec — not just “good enough to pass.”
WHAT WE REPAIR
BRAKE SYSTEMS WE REPAIR & ADJUST
Air, drum, disc or trailer brakes — every job gets checked against DOT spec, not just eyeballed and sent back out.
Air Brake System Repair
Air chambers, slack adjusters, air lines and compressor issues on tractors and trailers — the system that stops the whole rig.
Drum Brake Service
Worn brake shoes, scored drums and out-of-adjustment hardware kits replaced and set to spec, not just eyeballed.
Disc Brake Repair
Rotors, calipers and pads serviced on trucks equipped with air disc brakes, for shorter, more even stopping distances.
ABS & Sensor Diagnostics
ABS warning lights, wheel speed sensor faults and wiring issues that affect braking control, traced and fixed at the source.
Trailer Brake Repair & Adjustment
Trailer brake shoes, slack adjusters and out-of-adjustment brakes brought back into spec before they become a DOT violation.
DOT Brake Inspections & Compliance
Full brake system inspection across the tractor and trailer, so the rig passes DOT and stops the way it's supposed to.
Brakes are the one system on a truck where “close enough” isn’t good enough — a slack adjuster a little out of spec or a drum a little too worn is the difference between stopping and not. At Fulmen Garage in Douglassville, PA, we inspect and repair brake systems to DOT spec on every axle, tractor and trailer alike, because that’s the standard that actually keeps a loaded rig stopping the way it’s supposed to.

FAQ
BRAKE REPAIR QUESTIONS
How often should truck brakes be inspected?
Brakes get checked at every DOT inspection and preventive maintenance visit as a baseline, but any grinding, pulling or soft pedal is worth a look right away — brake wear doesn’t follow a fixed schedule, especially with heavy loads or mountain routes.
Why is my brake pedal soft or spongy?
Usually air or moisture in the brake lines, a failing master cylinder, or worn components not applying full pressure. On air brake systems, it can also point to a slack adjuster out of spec. Either way, it’s not something to keep driving on.
What does it mean when my ABS light comes on?
The ABS light means the anti-lock system has detected a fault, usually a wheel speed sensor or wiring issue, and has disabled itself as a precaution. Your regular brakes still work, but you lose ABS protection until it’s diagnosed and fixed.
Can worn brakes cause my truck to fail a DOT inspection?
Yes — out-of-adjustment slack adjusters, worn linings past the legal limit, and air leaks are some of the most common reasons trucks get placed out of service at roadside inspections. We check adjustment and wear against DOT spec, not just ‘good enough.’
Do you work on both tractor and trailer brakes?
Yes — air brake systems on tractors and trailers, drum and disc setups, and the full range of trailer types (dry van, reefer, flatbed, lowboy). Trailer brakes get inspected right alongside the tractor’s.
How much does brake repair cost?
It depends on what’s worn and how many axles are involved — a slack adjuster adjustment is a different job than a full drum and shoe replacement across an axle. We inspect first and give you a clear estimate before any work starts.
