DOUGLASSVILLE, PA · TRUCK & TRAILER SUSPENSION REPAIR
SUSPENSION & STEERING
A truck that pulls, wanders, or eats tires unevenly isn’t something an alignment alone will fix. Our ASE-certified technicians repair air ride suspension, leaf springs, shocks, steering linkage and kingpins on trucks and trailers — so the ride, the handling and the tire wear all get fixed together.
WHAT WE REPAIR
SUSPENSION & STEERING COMPONENTS WE REPAIR
Suspension and steering problems compound each other — we check the whole system, not just the part that’s obviously worn.
Air Ride Suspension Repair
Air bags, height control valves and air line leaks that cause a tractor or trailer to sag, lean or ride rough.
Leaf Spring & U-Bolt Repair
Broken, sagging or cracked leaf springs, along with worn shackles and U-bolts, on trucks and trailers alike.
Shock Absorber Replacement
Worn shocks that show up as excessive bouncing, body roll on turns, or tires wearing unevenly faster than they should.
Steering Linkage & Tie Rod Repair
Worn tie rods, drag links and steering linkage components that cause looseness, wander or a delayed steering response.
Kingpin & Steering Axle Repair
Worn kingpins, bushings and steering axle components that throw off alignment and make a truck harder to control.
Wheel Alignment & Ball Joint Service
Alignment checks and ball joint replacement to correct pulling, uneven tire wear and steering wheel vibration.
A worn suspension or steering component rarely announces itself — it shows up first as a tire wearing a little faster, or a ride that’s a little rougher than it used to be. At Fulmen Garage in Douglassville, PA, we inspect suspension and steering together on trucks and trailers, because fixing one without the other rarely holds for long. Real parts, real alignment equipment, and a shop built for heavy-duty work.

FAQ
SUSPENSION & STEERING QUESTIONS
How do I know if it's my suspension or my alignment causing uneven tire wear?
Alignment issues usually wear tires evenly across one edge; worn suspension components — bushings, ball joints, shocks — tend to cause more irregular, cupped or patchy wear. We check both together, since a bad component will throw off a fresh alignment anyway.
Can I keep driving with a leaking air bag on my trailer?
For a short distance, maybe — but a leaking air bag means the axle isn’t riding at the correct height, which throws off weight distribution and accelerates tire and suspension wear on the rest of the trailer. It’s worth fixing before it gets worse.
Why does my truck feel like it wanders or drifts at highway speed?
Wander at speed is usually worn tie rods, a loose steering linkage, or worn kingpins — not always something wrong with the alignment itself. We check the steering components before touching the alignment, since a fresh alignment on worn parts won’t hold.
Do you work on trailer suspension, or just tractors?
Both. Leaf spring, air ride and axle work on dry van, reefer, flatbed and lowboy trailers is a regular part of what we do — trailer suspension takes as much abuse as the tractor pulling it.
How often should suspension components be inspected?
We check suspension and steering components as part of every DOT inspection and preventive maintenance visit — catching a worn bushing or a cracked spring early is a lot cheaper than dealing with the tire wear or handling issue it eventually causes.
How much does suspension or steering repair cost?
It depends entirely on what’s worn — a shock replacement is a different job than a full air ride overhaul. We inspect first and give you a clear, itemized estimate before any work starts.
