DOUGLASSVILLE, PA · DIESEL EMISSIONS SYSTEM REPAIR
DPF / DEF / SCR REPAIR
A clogged DPF, a failed regen, or a DEF/SCR fault code will put a truck into derate fast — and ignoring it only makes the shutdown worse. Our ASE-certified technicians diagnose and repair diesel emissions systems the right way, so you’re back in regen and off the side of the road.
WHAT WE REPAIR
EMISSIONS SYSTEMS WE DIAGNOSE & REPAIR
DPF, DEF and SCR faults are interconnected — we diagnose the whole emissions system, not just the component throwing the code.
DPF Cleaning & Regeneration Service
Clogged diesel particulate filters cleaned or force-regenerated — and replaced when cleaning can no longer restore proper flow.
DEF System Diagnostics & Repair
DEF injector faults, pump and heater failures, and quality sensor faults that trigger low-DEF warnings or a derate.
SCR System & NOx Sensor Repair
Catalyst faults and upstream/downstream NOx sensor failures that throw codes and force the truck into reduced power.
EGR Valve & Cooler Service
Clogged or stuck EGR valves and coolers that contribute to emissions faults, rough running and reduced performance.
Derate & Shutdown Troubleshooting
Trucks stuck in reduced power or full shutdown from an emissions fault, diagnosed and restored to normal operation.
Emissions Fault Code Diagnosis
Accurate reading of DPF, DEF and SCR fault codes so the repair targets the actual cause, not just the symptom on the dash.
Emissions faults rarely stay small — a DPF that’s a little restricted today is a forced regen next week and a derate after that. At Fulmen Garage in Douglassville, PA, we diagnose DPF, DEF and SCR systems together, because a fault in one almost always shows up as a symptom in another. No DPF deletes, no shortcuts — just repairs that keep the truck legal and off the side of the road.
COMMON SYMPTOMS
SIGNS OF A DPF, DEF OR SCR FAULT
Catch these early and it’s a service. Ignore them and it’s a derate on the highway.
DPF, DEF or SCR warning light on the dash
Truck stuck in reduced power / derate mode
Frequent, failed or incomplete regen cycles
Strong or unusual exhaust smell
Noticeably higher fuel consumption
Loss of power under load or on hills

FAQ
DPF / DEF / SCR REPAIR QUESTIONS
Can a clogged DPF be cleaned, or does it need to be replaced?
Most clogged DPFs can be cleaned and restored to proper flow, either through a forced regen or a full off-truck cleaning. Replacement only comes up when the filter substrate itself is cracked or too far degraded for cleaning to bring it back into spec.
Why does my truck keep going into derate?
Derate is the ECM protecting the engine and aftertreatment system after repeated emissions faults — usually a DPF that’s too restricted, a failed regen, or a DEF/SCR fault. Clearing the derate without fixing the underlying cause means it comes right back.
Is it safe to keep driving with a DEF or SCR warning light on?
For a while, yes, but the ECM will eventually force a derate or a full power cut if the fault isn’t addressed — DEF and SCR faults get more restrictive the longer they’re ignored, so it’s worth getting looked at before it limits you on the road.
Can I use a DPF delete or emulator instead of fixing it?
No — we don’t install DPF deletes or emulators. They’re illegal under EPA regulations for on-road trucks, can fail a DOT or emissions inspection, and often void engine warranties. We repair the emissions system to work as designed.
Why is my truck using more DEF than usual?
Higher DEF consumption often points to an SCR system working harder than it should — commonly from a developing NOx sensor fault or a catalyst issue — rather than something wrong with the DEF itself. Worth a scan before it turns into a derate.
How much does DPF, DEF or SCR repair cost?
It depends entirely on what the scan finds — a DEF sensor is a different job than a DPF replacement. We’ll diagnose first and give you a clear estimate before any work starts, so you’re never guessing at the cost.
